A ponnadai shawl literally translates from Tamil as "precious golden cloth." It is a traditional South Indian ceremonial shawl draped over the shoulders of a respected person, guest of honor, or dignitary as a mark of high respect, appreciation, and blessing.

He moved to Mississauga in 1988 and established a traditional Family practice combining Hospital, office and house calls especially for the frail and house bound elderly patients.
He is a community activist and dedicated to the health care of seniors.

He has served in the past as the medical director at the University of Toronto’s Health and Wellness Centre for seven years. Currently, he is the Director of Primary Care Initiatives at the Canadian Heart Research Centre. He continues to be a global speaker and has spoken in Canada, United States, Europe, Saudi Arabia, Emirates, Egypt, South Africa, Philippines, Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Malaysia, Costa Rica, Panama and the Caribbean.
He is a popular and regular key note speaker for TREWO’s Webinar Outreach Wing.
Dr. Lin’s audience has varied from the public to students and to specialists.
His ultimate goal is to take the knowledge out of the research journals and put it back into the hands of the people who can then apply this knowledge on a daily basis. To this end, Dr. Lin’s strongest asset is his ability to communicate complex information in a clear and palatable way.

Dr. Manish Maingi trained in medicine and cardiology at the University of Toronto and The University of Western Ontario.
He has held many senior administrative posts including Chief of Cardiology at Credit Valley Hospital, Chief of Medicine at Credit Valley Hospital and Chief of Cardiac Health at the combined Trillium Health Partners. He has been involved in the planning of cardiac services to the province of Ontario as a board member of The Cardiac Care Network of Ontario.
An active lecturer at The University of Toronto Medical School, he has mentored many young physicians in medicine and cardiology.
In 2018 he was part of the Trillium team that received the Minister’s Medal for Health Care Innovation.

Dr. Clive has held numerous leadership roles at the Credit Valley Hospital since 1986 including Medical Director of the Rehabilitation and Continuing Care Program 1986 to 1995, Chief of Medical Staff Credit Valley Hospital 1995 to 2005 and Geriatric Lead of the Mississauga Halton LHIN since 2005.
Dr. Clive also serves as a member of the Provincial Coroner’s Geriatric and Long Term Care Review Committee.
Dr. Clive teaches Geriatric Medicine and clinical skills to second year medical students and is a teacher to Family Medicine and elective residents. A role model.
Her most rewarding work is that of day to day care of seniors and their families and hence Dr. Clive brings her experiences and expertise from front line clinical work to these many advisory, teaching and planning tables.
Seniors between the ages of 80-90, who were active in the Community were recognised for not only leading a fulfilling life but had made major contribution to society in the past.

The Ripple Effect Wellness Organization Award for Outstanding and Dedicated Community Service
Dr. Gopal Bhatnagar is a cardiovascular surgeon at Mississauga Hospital, Trillium Health Partners.
The visionary founder of the former Trillium Health Centre’s heart surgery program in 2000, Dr. Bhatnagar quickly assumed the role of Chief of Cardiac Surgery. With a special interest in coronary artery bypass, aortic root repair and minimally invasive surgery, he and his team introduced off-pump cardiac surgery, known as beating heart surgery, in 2004.
From 2005 to 2012, Dr. Bhatnagar served as Chief of Staff for the former Trillium Health Centre. Bringing together physicians, hospital staff and administration, with a focus on improving quality and safety, he helped pave the way for the fluid integration so necessary for the successful merger that formed Trillium Health Partners.

Paul played 18 years of professional hockey with the Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs and Atlanta Flames, including 5 years in the World Hockey Association.
History will remember Paul for the first Canada-Russia Hockey series in 1972, when Canada needed a victory in each of the last 3 games to win the series. Incredibly, Paul scored the winning goal in each of the 3 games. The goal in the last game was declared the greatest sports moment in the last century and Team Canada ’72 was voted the Team of the Century.
Paul is a member of several Sports Halls of Fame including Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame. He has recently been honoured with the Order of Canada.
The Ron Cooke Balwadi was started in 1995 when funds from Joan Cooke were used to rebuild the old mud walled Balwadi with proper bricks and cement.
Ron died in 1989. His memorial fund added up to $5000! She travelled to Chennai to hand over the money in 1991. Joan has made 10 trips to Roofs, the last one in December 2019.

1999 he established the Population Health Research Institute, and was the Lead investigator for research into Heart Disease amongst South Asians In Canada, USA, UK and India.
Globally as a result of his research, guidelines for management of Metabolic Syndrome, common in South Asians were established and young lives saved.
