I.M.P.A.C.T

Building lifelong health literacy and emotional resilience in young people — through mental-health programming, scholarships and community partnerships.

IMPACT youth mental health program

IMPACT is a peer-to-peer social education program that helps students understand the connection between social media and their mental health.

Through a partnership between The Ripple Effect and MTClife, IMPACT trains and mentors Grade 10 and 11 students to become leaders who then deliver workshops to Grade 7 and 8 students in their feeder schools.

This model allows younger students to learn from older peers who understand the pressures they face, especially around social media, comparison, identity, and belonging. It also helps create a stronger bridge between elementary and high school.

The program has received major support from the Gloria Baylis Foundation, which funded $150,000 over the next three years to help expand IMPACT, train more student leaders, and reach more school communities.

IMPACT begins with Session Zero, introducing how social media can affect mental health, anxiety, self-image, and emotional well-being. The program then moves through five core modules: Self-Worth, Empathy & Compassion, Problem Solving Skills, False vs. Reality, and Communication Skills.

It ends with Session Close, which focuses on becoming a global citizen and teaches students how to recognize when they need help, how to ask for help, and how to support others.

IMPACT is about creating awareness, compassion, confidence, and leadership in schools and communities.
